On Thursday, Governor Andy Beshear and Attorney General Daniel Cameron participated in a Gubernatorial Forum in Paducah, Kentucky. Moderator Todd Faulkner, Evening News Anchor at WPSD Local 6, asked both candidates how they would ensure the future of reliable and affordable electricity in Kentucky.

Despite disagreements on the specifics, both candidates stressed the need for an all-of-the-above energy policy that honors and preserves baseload power generation like coal that has fueled Kentucky’s economy since the industrial revolution.

The candidates’ answers were a welcome reminder that grid reliability and electric affordability are issues that transcend party lines. The overwhelming majority of Kentuckians believe that regulators and elected officials should be doing more to ensure Kentucky has access to affordable and reliable electricity.
