The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced that it will reconsider thirty-one rules and regulations to unleash American energy, lower the cost of living, and revitalize American industry. Dependable Power First Kentucky issued the following statement in response:
“Dependable Power First Kentucky is grateful for EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin’s comprehensive initiative to reverse harmful regulations that have burdened Kentucky electricity consumers with higher power bills and a less dependable grid. The planned reforms include a reassessment of the Carbon Rule and other glaring examples of federal overreach that undermine the dependability and affordability of Kentucky’s power grid.”
“The illegal Carbon Rule stands to have a uniquely damaging impact on the baseload power plants which provide more than 90 percent of the electricity that Kentucky families and businesses rely on. This is why Attorney General Coleman joined twenty-five other state attorneys general in suing the Biden-era EPA over the regulation. At a time when electricity demand is exploding nationwide, Administrator Zeldin’s announcement couldn’t come at a better time to prevent this harm and empower Kentucky to become a hub for emerging and energy intensive industries.”
“While significant work remains, Dependable Power First Kentucky is greatly encouraged by and thankful for the EPA’s proactive efforts to correct missteps made by previous administrations. We look forward to supporting the agency and continuing our work to educate Kentuckians about the vital importance of maintaining a reliable and affordable power grid to our economy and our way of life.”
