In Kentucky and across America, electricity is at the core of almost everything we do. But while many people recognize the importance of having the lights stay on, few understand how our power grid works or what exactly makes electricity reliable.
Last year, we launched a new video series to help educate people on these important issues. Our first video, Understanding the Electricity Grid and Electric Reliability, introduced two key concepts: the power grid and electric reliability, and the importance of “baseload power” to both.
For our second video, Protecting Kentucky’s Electricity Supply, we interviewed members of Dependable Power First Kentucky, public officials, and small business owners to understand why a reliable and affordable electricity supply is important to them.
The video features Mayor Kevin Cotton of Madisonville, Deputy Judge Executive Jon Park of Shelby County, Energy Expert Chris Skates, Magistrate Darrin Benton of Muhlenberg County, and Business Owner Grant Jones.
