Frankfort, K.Y.  –  Dependable Power First Kentucky today announced the appointment of Katelyn Bunning as its new Executive Director. A former Legislative Director for Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell with deep experience on energy and environment policy, Katelyn will coordinate the efforts of Dependable Power First Kentucky as it engages with community leaders and policymakers across the state.   Katelyn issued the following statement:

“I am honored and excited to take on this important role at such a critical time. Grid reliability affects all of us, and Kentuckians deserve a reliable and affordable electricity supply. Dependable Power First Kentucky’s role is to advocate for reliable and affordable energy, which all citizens of the Commonwealth of Kentucky deserve. Together, we can ensure that Kentucky continues to benefit from reliable and affordable electricity.”

Katelyn’s appointment coincides with more warnings from the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and other energy experts about the serious challenges that our electricity grid faces for the coming winter.  According to NERC, more than half of the country, including Kentucky, is at risk for electricity shortages this winter.

Katelyn continued:

“Blackouts during Winter Storm Elliott demonstrated that we cannot take our electricity supply for granted. We need to take advantage of all electricity resources that are reliable and affordable.  However, there are a number of fars that threaten Kentucky’s grid, including  federal regulations intended to force the premature retirement of dependable baseload power plants.”
 About Us:
